Proud Art StL
A Creative Home for LGBTQIA+ Teens in St. Louis
Proud Art STL is a safe, supportive space where young people can connect, create, and celebrate their individuality through art.
Proud Art STL was born out of both need and love
In St. Louis, many LGBTQIA+ teens were searching for spaces where they could feel safe, supported, and seen for who they truly are.
A small group of artists, mentors, and allies noticed this gap — and believed that art could be the bridge that brings people together.
What started as a simple idea of gathering teens to create, connect, and express themselves freely grew into workshops, events, and celebrations that now form the heartbeat of Proud Art STL.
It took countless hours of planning, the dedication of volunteers, and the generosity of supporters who shared one vision: a city where LGBTQIA+ youth have a safe, creative home.
Today, every workshop, every painting, every song, and every story shared at Proud Art STL is a reminder that art builds belonging.
We exist because of a community that cares deeply and we continue to grow because every young person deserves a place to belong, to be proud, and to be seen.
What We Do
We bring LGBTQIA+ middle and high schoolers — and their allies — together through hands-on workshops, community events, and creative exploration.
From painting and photography to music, writing, and game design, every workshop is a chance to learn new skills, make friends, and express your authentic self.
We know how powerful community can be — and how art helps people open up, connect, and thrive. Proud Art STL was founded by artists, mentors, and allies who wanted to make sure every teen has a place to feel seen, heard, and celebrated.
